Travel Health

The Practice offers a few travel appointments. They are available on a first come first serve. Please do not leave it until the last minute to contact us as we do not offer emergency appointments for travel reasons.

Travel vaccination schedules can be complicated, therefore you should allow at least 6 weeks prior to travel to schedule any necessary vaccinations – we are unfortunately unable to offer this service if you are travelling within a 6 week time-frame.

Unfortunately time and time again many nurse appointments are wasted by people who fail to turn up for booked travel appointments.  Regrettably it has become necessary to advise you that should a patient cancel at extremely short notice or fail to attend for a booked travel appointment the surgery will NOT offer a further appointment.

It is not an NHS requirement to offer travel vaccinations and therefore when necessary priority will be given in nursing clinics to NHS services that the surgery is contracted to offer.

If you do require urgent travel advice and vaccinations please contact your nearest travel clinic…

Once you know your holiday dates, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Collect a travel questionnaire form from the surgery or download the Travel questionnaire 2017 here.
  2. Complete the form giving details of your holiday destination and any previous vaccination history.
  3. Return the form to the surgery for checking by the Practice Nurse.
  4. Please allow 10 working days, after which time contact the surgery and you will be advised which, if any vaccinations are required for your destination of travel.

Please note:

The NHS provides some vaccinations free of charge but not all, Vaccines which are not funded by the NHS for travel abroad will be chargeable.

Those vaccines which are provided free of charge by the NHS for travel abroad are:

  • Typhoid (to some countries)
  • Poliomyelitis
  • Hepatitis A
