Training Practice
Bursted wood surgery is a training practice which means that we will have GP Registrars working at the surgery most of the time. We are also involved in the training of medical student doctors from hospitals.

The Advanced clinical Practitioners
Advanced clinical practitioners are qualified prescribers who are able to undertake full examinations, diagnose illness and treat as appropriate. They can order necessary investigations, screen for disease risk factors and refer to other healthcare workers such as hospital specialists, physiotherapy and counsellors.

The Physician associate's
Physician associates are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside doctors providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.

The Paramedics
Paramedics in primary care can:
Assess and triage patients, including same day triage and as appropriate providing definite treatment.
Advise patients on general healthcare and promoting self-management.
Perform specialist health checks and reviews, perform and interpret ECG’s, and undertake investigatory procedures.

Practice Nurse
Our practice nurses can be seen by appointment. They are available to help you with general medical advice, dressings and injections, removal of stitches, weight control and dietary advice. They work with the Doctors and Nurse Practitioner to provide regular review and supervision of patients who have Diabetes, Asthma, Heart Disease, Hypertension or high blood pressure.

Our practice HCA can be seen by appointment. She is available to help you with dressings and injections, diabetic foot checks, new patient checks, NHS health checks , blood pressure checks and removal of stitches.

The Practice Managers
Our Business Manager Julia Weal and our Practice manager Lisa Vernon look after the day-to-day running of the Practice and are available to help you with any non-medical problems that you may have regarding the Practice by making an appointment to see them or by Letter/email.
The Reception and Admin Staff
The receptionists are likely to be the first people you meet at the surgery. They are available to help you in complete confidence. They will make appointments for you, answer your queries, where possible and liaise with the Doctor on your behalf. Please give them as much information as you feel able to do, so that your enquiry may be dealt with as efficiently as possible.

Our District Nurses provide care for patients who are confined to their homes and require nursing assistance. The District Nurses call into the surgery on a daily basis and a message can be left for them via reception.

The 0 to 19 Children’s Public Health Service in the London Borough of Bexley is run by Bromley Healthcare. Health Visitors are qualified Nurses or Midwives who have completed further training. The Health Visitor is there to support you as a parent in raising a happy and healthy child; working together with you to give your child the best possible start in life. As far as possible we will try to ensure that you see the same Health Visitor at each visit so that you know who to expect.
